About Me

Anju Bagrodia, MA, LMFT
Marriage Family Therapist

I received my MA in Counseling Psychology from Pepperdine University. My clinical experience includes working with older adults, adults, families and children at The Maple Counseling Center in Beverly Hills, the Alexandria House, the Airport Marina Counseling Center, and Thalians Mental Health Center at Cedar Sinai. I also lead parenting groups at Maple Counseling Center and at the Alexandria House (a non- profit residency for women and children moving from emergency shelters) to strengthen communication and build problem-solving skills to deal with parenting frustrations and challenges. Furthermore, I worked as a consultant at the Alexandria House Pre-School. Here, I designed a program to help the children learn effective communication skills for peaceful conflict resolution. In parallel, I held sessions and worked with the staff to help them understand the developmental stages of the children, learn how to achieve age appropriate behaviors, and build and maintain self-esteem in the classroom.

My Approach

I approach my calling with a sense of authenticity and integrity. I strive to create a safe and nonjudgmental space for my clients where they can gain a new understanding of themselves. My approach to psychotherapy is built around my belief that there is no single style or path to healing— it is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Some clients may prefer an immediate solution-focused approach or short-term treatment style like Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), while others’ needs are more nuanced and may do better with psychodynamic approaches. Nothing works unless, foremost, a good connection is established between the client and their therapist.
