“Oh yes, the past can hurt. But you can either run from it, or learn from it.” Rafiki, The Lion King

Individual Therapy

Stress and conflict are part of our complex lives, and sometimes we get stuck. When we are stuck we ruminate, question, and obsess about the experience, spiraling until we become the emotion.

I believe that the therapeutic journey mirrors the journey of a lotus – the lotus flower grows at the bottom of muddy waters in a swamp (our internal struggles and challenges) and slowly emerges to the surface into a beautiful blossom with the light of the sun (awareness/insight).  The goal of therapy is to help you gain insights to identify patterns of behavior that keep you mired in the dysfunctional patterns; this awareness and understanding will facilitate behavioral changes that will allow you to know your inner self and live an engaged and fulfilling life.

At times, change and growth will feel good and hopeful, but at other times, the change may feel uncomfortable, bringing with it the fear of the unknown. In our work together you will learn self-acceptance, build resilience, develop coping skills, and acquire an enhanced sense of self-esteem.
